Chef John Pisto and Lygia Chappellet invite Monterey County residents to join them on a culinary adventure to South America aboard Silverseas’ Silver Whisper. The 382-passenger luxury cruise ship departs December 3, 2010 from Santiago (Valparaíso), Chile, one of the world’s most picturesque ports, and leisurely makes its way around the lush Chilean Fjords before rounding Cape Horn and debarking December 19, in the city of Buenos Aires—the Paris of the South.

Cooking Demonstrations, Cooking Classes, Wine Pairings & Art Workshops

Chef Pisto’s guests will be treated to exclusive cooking demonstrations by the chef himself and an opportunity to sample his culinary creations paired with Chappellet Wines. Cooking classes offered by Relais & Chateaux trained chefs, with wine pairings by James Beard award winning wine reviewer Lyn Farmer are also available.
To round out the food and wine adventure, Lygia Chappellet has added art to the mix. Chappellet, an accomplished artist, has generously offered to host sketching workshops for the ship’s guests.

South America’s Cookin’—Pisto Style

This is a working trip for Chef John Pisto, owner of The Whaling Station Restaurant and host of the internationally syndicated television show, Monterey’s Cookin’ Pisto Style. Each port of call will give the chef an opportunity to explore the specialties of the regions while searching for recipes to bring back to his studio kitchen in Monterey and share with his television viewers world-wide.
