TV Show - Monterey's Cookin' Pisto Style
Chef Pisto's internationally syndicated television show Monterey's Cookin' Pisto Style is hosted by chef and restaurateur, John Pisto. Chef Pisto's unique style of cooking brings simplicity to recipes thought difficult to prepare, always with a touch of humor and informality. Chef Pisto is known for his unique California-Mediterranean Cuisine, yet his show takes on an international flavor. Often, the Chef will take viewers on adventures to culinary points of interest around the world, then return to his Monterey, California kitchen to prepare a recipe related to the excursion. Segments of the show have been filmed in China, Tunisia, Italy, France, Thailand, Portugal, and Spain, as well as dozens of US locales. When in the studio kitchen, Chef Pisto invites guests to appear on the show. Celebrity guests have included the legendary Julia Child, renowned chef Charlie Trotter, wine critic Jerry Mead, celebrated restaurateur Drew Neiporent, Chicago Tribune Food & Wine columnist William Rice, as well as former White House Chief of Staff Leon Panetta, musicians Johnny Rivers and Sammy Hagar, and racing legend, Mario Andretti. Monterey's Cookin' Pisto Style television show was syndicated internationally with AmericanLife TV Network in 1992 and began airing on Comcast (formerly AT&T Cable Network) in 1990. AmericanLife TV syndication includes over 10 million households worldwide. The international show appears 4 days a week: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7:30am and 3:00pm, and Sundays at 2:30pm PST, in over 500 cable markets including 40+ states across America. Comcast broadcasts Monterey's Cookin Pisto Style in Monterey, Santa Cruz & Salinas (Channel 34) seven nights a week. The half-hour cooking show is Pisto's Kitchen in cooperation with Comcast in Monterey, California. Each episode produced is distributed to all of the markets listed above. Approximately 26 episodes are produced each year. |
